The Forever Thankful
Capital Campaign began in 2014 as a two-phase undertaking with
the future of Camp Lone Star in mind. Phase One included upgrading
our Drinking Water System, Waste Water Management and constructing
the new Christ Cabin building. Phase Two proposed a new Welcome
Center in the Base Camp area and Camp road improvements. All these
long-range improvements to Camp have prepared us to further fulfill
our mission – and we’re not done yet.
Phase One improvements and construction were completed in 2017
with a final cost of $1.2M. This was made possible by a construction
loan from Texas Church Extension Fund and many pledges and donations
from our generous supporters. At this time, we have an outstanding
loan balance of $365,000.
The Board of Directors has made a strategic decision to alter
the proposed phase two plan as a result of a rising need. Our
year-round staff mobile home village was impacted by Hurricane
Harvey in fall of 2017. In an effort to care for the staff who
care for Camp, the Board has approved permanent staff housing
solutions. The proposal is estimated to be $300,000 to build a
two-unit duplex by the end of 2020.
We are committed
to outreach and renewal in the midst of God’s creation and
among His people. In 2021 we are launching a new Vision. In order
to do this, and to be good stewards of what God has given us,
the LOMT Board has prioritized that we eliminate our current Phase
One Forever Thankful debt and projected Phase Two expenses by
the end of 2020, so we can launch our 2021 Vision debt-free. Will
